Stiff

Is it true that sleeping with a window or door open can give you a stiff neck? If so, why? I did this a few weeks ago, and woke up with a serious version of a stiff neck, known as 'acute spasmodic torticollis' which lasted three days and was absolutely agonising. The doctor didn't suggest a draught was responsible, but said no-one knows what actually causes it. Has anyone else experienced it? I'm havig difficultly sleeping in this heat because I'm afraid to open the window!

It is more likely to have benn caused by sleping deeply in an awkward position, a minor nerve injury, stress or a combination of these...baseline is open the window, addied
I think Woofgang is right about the sleeping in an awkward position.....I have a tendency of doing that and wondering what the hell I have done to myself.
I can't imagine not having the windows open during this heat....you must be sweating buckets. My flat is so warm that we have to have a fan on in the bedroom. My husband kept getting a dodgy tummy because the fan was blowing on his torso, so if you are worried about a draught causing you pain or an upset tummy, then drape a thin layer over yourself....just a sheet or something. That seems to do the trick for us anyway.
