My Pc Monitor Has Died,, Altogether Ahhhhh,, Can I Connect To New Tv?
Hi all
A sad day has occurred, my pc monitor has finally gone kaputt.
Can I connect my pc to my new tv through the vga ports?.
My monitor was connected to the female 15 pin port on my pc and my tv has a female 15 pin port.
Will a male to male cable turn my tv into a pc monitor?
TIA

However the VGA output from a PC will have a 60Hz horizontal frequency, whereas many TVs made for the UK market might only support 50Hz. Further, you need to remember that VGA only carries video signals; no sound would be carried to your TV through the cable.
If it was me, I'd seek out a cheap cable (charity shops sometimes have boxes full of them, but you might need to ask at the counter) and simply give it a go.
Alternatively, since I've mentioned charity shops anyway, BHF Furniture & Electrical stores often sell good quality monitors quite cheaply.

If your TV has a VGA / PC input port and your PC also has a VGA port as you say, then you will probably only need one of these:

but by your description it seems you probably already have the cable! If so just give it a try. You may need to adjust your PC screen resolution to display / fit correctly on the TV display.
Works great on a 42" LG !
Likewise, if the TV also has an Audio input port you can get yourself a corresponding audio cable to connect PC audio output to TV input. Its usually a 3.5mm jack plug at each end, but check the TV. If no,t the Audio will play through the PC sound system.
