You don't have to declare anything below 6k. You're allowed up to 16k but you lose 'X' amount for every £500 over the 6k....I think that's right
I think it's 16,000 pounds or less Conne

(and you are NOT a numpty x)
£16,000 I think............
Someone will be along to help soon Conn but in the meantime how are you?
Do you mean how much can you have before it affects your benefits?
Some benefits are not dependent on income.
Which benefits \re you thinking of?
And there they were!
I'm living in the past - I thought it was £12,000. Good job I didn't answer right away.
//Some benefits are not dependent on income//

ummm I am a bit confused with your answer - is is £6,000 or maximum £16,000 whilst on this topic are their other benefits which would jeopardise the savings issue.
answered on here and on your other thread - you don't have to keep starting new threads! http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Business-and-Finance/Personal-Finance/Question1215135.html
You don't have to declare anything under 6k. Anything over 6k has to be declared.
Anything over 16k and you won't be entitled to any benefits at all. Means tested ones anyway.
Look at the link I put on the other thread, that explains it all
it stated in the Daily Mail today its £16,000 max, this woman won £95,00 on a tv show but did not decare it,but carried on collecting benfits, she is nicked and has to pay back £5000.
For Ann86- there are quite a few benefits which are not means tested. I don't know how accurate this is but it gives an idea: http://www.sefton.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=6092
God that is a really good link F 30
