French Speeding Ticket
6 Answers
an "Avis de Contravention" dropped on to the mat on Saturday for a speeding offence detected by a roadside camera on the A75 in Central France in December. Only problem with that is I was provably in the English Midlands on the day in question. The vehicle detected is a Fiat Scudo van and I'm guessing is a rental vehicle. My details on the ticket have been copied from my driver's licence; i know this because it contains an error that i've never got round to correcting, and it has been reproduced on the form.
the ticket came with an exoneration form and my employer will provide proof of my whereabouts, so it should be easy enough to get the ticket cancelled. but how would i go about finding out how my licence details came to be associated with this?

the reg. number is BP-613-FE which is in the new french registration format, and unlike any system used in the UK.
identity thefy has crossed my mind. I will be requesting the authority to tell me who nominated me as driver - but i'm not hopeful of a response.

I would advise the British Police, it is possible to put a 'tag' on driver details on the Police National Computer saying that a fraudulent driving licence may be in use.
I would then contact the DVLA and request a new and correct licence so that these erroneous details demonstrably no longer apply to you and also advise them of the problem
