Can u wall mount a 40" LCD TV to plasterboard? There is a 6" gap between the plasterboard and a solid brick wall. Any ideas?

Presumably there's a wooden framework behind the plasterboard (a stud wall)? Tap a panel pin in here and there til you find where a stud is and you should be able to judge where they all are - they're should be at 16" centres. Providing the manual that came with the TV says you can wall mount it, you should be able to seat it on screws that are securely fixed (through the plasterboard) to studs. I suppose one way of getting an idea if that's catered for is to measure between the fixing points on the back of the TV - hopefully it will be a distance divisible by 16 (in this case, for a 40" TV, 32").

Make sure you use the right size screws (both length and gauge - the manual will tell you what size you need), and that they're screwed in far enough to be really secure (if there's a 6" gap behind the plasterboard, that should be no problem since you can screw them right through the studs). And use roundheads, as they'll grip the keyhole slots properly (try one in a slot first to see that it's a snug fit).
