Krispy Kremes

personally the sight of about 15 of them all in a box at Tescos make me want to heave, they look so sickly and awful and in Las Vegas in the Luxor hotel food court they were actually queuing to buy them for breakfast.
Now they have their first drive in near Edinburgh which has caused traffic jams around the block.
Love them or hate them folks ?

They were really good, especially if you waited with your nose pressed up against the glass, the other side of which was the long frying channel into which the golden morsels were squeezed out of a machine... then about half-way down n automatic "flipper" turned them and then they exited under a veritable shower of sugar glaze. Great if you could get them while they were still warm with a cup of Krispy Kreme's own coffe blend...
But (and there's always a but) the company took a real hit when the United States Securities and Exchange Commission came knocking in July 2004, making an informal inquiry into Krispy Kreme's buybacks of several franchises. It was a down hill skid and the company is near bankruptcy. Main problem is that it had always been a smallish southern U.S. company that tried to grow into a national company and just couldn't hack it... Pity... pretty good doughnuts.
If you come to the U.S., try Dunkin' Doughnuts... almost as good and one of the offerings has a little "pinched" piece on it so you don't get your fingers in the cup of really good Joe one can buy there as well...
