No clue numbers, this is a carte blanche (I think!). Wordplay in each clue yields an extra letter not to be entered in the grid.

I have come up with 'sexological', but am not sure if I've made this up, and can't see what the extra letter is. Any advice/thoughts welcome.
Thanks again Never.
I have:
how g uill o- -r -e-y.
I know the words that complete the line of the work, so I will obviously have to look again at the surplus letters. Is the 'relevant name' the composer, or the person it was written about?
Boreas, as you probably suspect you have a lot of errors in your superfluous letters. You are sorting them according to the usual clue order, I assume. 'How' is correct; the next word, as Neveracrossword revealed, is one letter. So it certainly isn't 'g'!
If you know the published title, the Internet can be quite useful.
Thank you. Yes I have just realised I have gone wrong with the numbering of the clues and am correcting this now to get the right surplus letters to fit the rest of the line (the words of which I know).
I was a bit distracted by wondering if the last few words of the excerpt were the final version of the song, with 'how' being some sort of bridge.
Well, having been very kindly helped across the road all day, I am nearly there.
Just one more step.
I have the superfluous T word as TRAMP, but don't get the wordplay.
Maybe it's been too much of a hard day's . . . I had to just stop myself then.
Boreas, glad you made it! I think 'tramp' came from 'trauma'/shock, and the 'u' was the extra letter. I was so relieved when I got to that point, I didn't really didn't bother much.
I have a go at these crosswords every week and must say that some are very cleverly worked out. This one in particular was very good. It was yesterday that I managed to finish it with a little bit of help from my friends. Thanks to my fab four.
