Had to stay there last night but arrived at dusk and left by 0800. I've not been before and in the little time I saw it appeared stunning. Anyone familiar, is it really worth a proper visit?
Quite a pretty place, Prudie, I have driven through several times and walked through it once. I recall some of the shops were a tad expensive but it was the height of the summer when I was there.
It's my home town although I've not lived there for some years now - but yes it is very pretty and full of history - chapel on the bridge-saxon church -tithe barn etc
It did look like there were a lot of cutesy arty crafty shops that might draw me in and buy things I don't need but the buildings were beautiful as was the river and canal.
We stayed there for a few days and really enjoyed it. We walked along the canal to the aquaduct and back again, looking at the beautiful narrow boats and had lunch in the pub afterwards. We stayed on the river which was pretty and used B upon A as a base for days out too. Bath by train, Bristol too. A drive to Devizes and Caen locks. Lacock is just up the road.
