Pain After Rotator Cuff Repair
11 Answers
I had a rotator cuff repair 7 weeks ago and I go back to see the surgeon tomorrow. I wore my sling as instructed till I saw physio at 4 weeks. He told me to stop wearing the sling and do several exercises. I did these even though it was excrutiatingly painful. A week later when I went back and told him how painful it was he told me to stop and wear the sling again for another 2 weeks. It is still very painful. What I would like to know before I go tomorrow is what is normal at this stage or is it possible I damaged it doing the exercises.

agree, nanscamp, it's a perfectly legitimate question. Let us know how you get on at the surgeon's.

How did you damage your shoulder nanscamp? or is it wear and tear? The reason I ask is my husband fell off a roof about 4 months ago, after about 8 weeks he went to the Doctors as the pain wasn't getting any better. They gave him cortisone injections and anti inflammatories but it's still really painful and he has very little movement. He's going back on Thursday to see the Doc and I'm unsure on the sort of questions we need to ask.
I fell through the loft!!!! ceiling to floor 15 years ago. It was xrayed and because I only had cracked ribs and nothing broken I was discharged with pain killers. Ive been back lots of times over the years, just to be told nothing is wrong. Eventually I pushed for a scan which showed a torn muscle. I had the injections but they never worked. Our NHS must be working differently now, I had the scan November, saw surgeon December and had the op 2 Jan at a private hospital through choose and book.
Ive seen the surgeon today. He said its not healed as well as he would have liked at this stage, hence the pain, but everyone is different. My sling is off thank goodness and Ive to do exercises and go back in 6 weeks, maybe for a steroid injection. It will be 18 months before full recovery but after all this time it will be worth it. Thank you for asking
