I hope to take a fairly thickish linen bag to put in the cabin over head on the plane. What would be too big?
Would 22" x 11" round the bottom be ok? Cheers abers

It will depend on your airline. Have a look at their website for guidance.

Thanks Eccles. Were flying Emirates to Aussie.
Will look again and check details. Some people have wopping size cases lol
The big airlines tend to take a more relaxed view towards cabin baggage, unless there is someone really taking the mick.

It's the low cost airlines that are pernickety as they can make more money from passengers not following the rules.
Here's a link to their website.

The maximum dimensions on Ryanair are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm (21½" x 15½" x 7½").

For easyJet, it's 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22" x 17½" x 9½")

(When converting, I've always round down to the nearest half inch, to be on the safe side!)
I bought a new cabin bag last year because it said "fits most airlines cabin bag size". Being as we was going by Virgin we thought it would be ok,!! Got home got onto the site and every site including the cheaper ones accepted it. But Virgin was the only one that didnt.?? So yes make sure you do check on line. xx
Crossed post! I was eating my lunch and answering the phone while attempting to type at the same time, so I didn't see your reference to Emirates.

Have just googled on link, and all seems to be ok.
my 22" x 11" seems fine, and must not go over 15lb.
Once again it has put my mind to rest. Cheers Abers x
You might want to take another look Pusskin, using all three dimensions of your bag.

Unless of course your bag really is just 8" tall!

Hmmm eccles. Just ran upstairs to check bag. it is 10 " tall.
Tch, decisions decisions now.
May change to my very floppy linen bag instead to be on the safe sound.
It is smaller! Thanks for reminder x
