finding that a bit complicated,
i signed a 6 month assured short hold tenancy agreement in early 2009.i have continued to pay the rent in full and on time each month.
the link i posted is confusing.
basically do i have to be given two months notice by the landlord and in my case just one?
also after reading the above link can someone explain the deposit protection scheme?

The Deposit Proctection Scheme was set up so that Tenants who have fulfilled the criteria of their tenancy actually get their deposit back. So if your rent has been paid on time and in full and you haven't broken anything your deposit will or should be returned to you within 10 days of you vacating the premises.
