I've been trying to cut down on white bread (usually the little toastie loaves) for toast, sandwiches, with soup etc... and tend to go for alternatives such as tortilla wraps and pitta bread.

Are they actually better for you than normal white bread?

Not sure there is much difference if they are both made with white flour, There's no yeast in them, of course.
I dont think there's much in it Eve...two slices of wholegrain contains the same fat and salt as a wholemeal wrap.....but you can get more into a wrap :-)
I think eve can't do wholegrain because there's too much fibre in it.
I was horrified to find out that there are as many calories in some wraps as there are in a slice of bread - I too thought I was being healthy, swapping bread for wraps.
how could you think that when they are both flour, water and some fat?
They just .... look as if they'd be better for you..... :-(
oh wow, can I come and sell you some other healthy stuff???????

Aww gutted, I thought the same as boxtops.

That said though, a pack of wraps etc... tend to last longer for me than just a load of bread (the small toastie one). I think I use more bread if I have it.

Yep, wholegrain is a no-no for me.

I've cut out bread Eve, but I found the only successful method was to avoid trying to replace it. So I've managed to eat soup without the bread and swapped sandwiches for salads or rice cakes. I have oat cereal for breakfast or some protein, and vegetables, fruit, or salad with protein for lunch.
Tried wraps, boring.
No good breakfast.
No good if you fancy something on tast for lunch. e.g. an egg.
Ok in the freezer for emergencies.
