Hi I have prickly holly type bushes, growing in 12 small self contained about 1mt square areas, walled in approx 100mm high, from path, but the earth they grow on gets all over grown with weeds and grass and I am unable with a strimmer to keep them tidy it has become quite a battle with last years rain.
Is there any thing on the market other than grass that I can plant or grow after ground preparation that is just about maintenance free to grow under the bushes,I have seen a type of very short green heather that never seems to grow above 100mm and seems to regenerate quite well to spread out to the confines of the walls, but I dont know what it is.
Hope any one can help. Thanks Tez
Try checking the 'Low maintenance' box here and selecting the appropriate type of 'Planting places', etc, to see what the RHS suggest: http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector Perhaps selecting 'mat forming' under 'Habit' might be appropriate? (You don't have to complete all of the boxes; just fill in the ones which are important to you).

Hi Buenchico That is a fantastic site it took some finding but got there in the end, as you kindly suggested narrow it down a bit and found, ( mind your own business), not being rude to you, just the English term for Soleirolia, I think that's how you spell it, any how thanks again.
