FOR VALOUR video
this was a bbc show back in novmber. is there anywhere i can get a copy a bbc will not help.
bio reads:
FOR VALOUR
THE STORY OF THE
VICTORIA CROSS
(working title)
During the Second World War, a
heavily wounded Gurkha rifleman
managed to kill 31 enemy soldiers.
His bravery was recognised with the
highest and most prestigious award
for gallantry the Victoria Cross.
His is just one story explored by
Jeremy Clarkson as he attempts to
discover what it takes to be awarded
the medal. In its 149-year history,
1,354 have been awarded, with just
15 recipients alive today.
Inside Buckingham Palace, Jeremy sees
prototype medals and documents
illustrating how Queen Victoria and
Prince Albert were behind the medal's
commission. He also has access to the
heavily guarded Army depot in
Donnington where the precious metal
used to make the medals is stored.

The acts of bravery Clarkson recounted were truly remarkable. One of the quotes, near the end of the programme I think, was His family didn't know he'd won a Victoria Cross until after he died. He hadn't thought to mention it, referring to Maj. Robert Henry Cain (Ive just taken a look at the write-up on IMDB). If I recall, the next thing Clarkson said was something like, a very brave man. I know I married his daughter. The pride he felt in talking about the man (his father-in-law) was very apparent. I have to say, Id always thought of Clarkson as a big, annoying lump (sorry, Jeremy!), but he showed a rarely seen side of himself on that programme, very thoughtful and respectful.
If ever a programme called for a repeat, this is it. Sorry I cant help with regard to a copy, Rye. To anyone else, if you get a chance to see it in the future, dont miss it.
(Must say though, I thought it had been on quite a bit earlier in the year, so maybe if it was on in November that was actually a repeat.)
