Persistent Scan Disk Routine After Replacing Memory Cards.

Greetings each.
I recently replaced the memory cards on an E-Machines 3210 PC running XP-Pro: Upgraded from 2 x 256mb to 2 x 512mb.
Each time I boot-up since then, Windows runs Scandisk and checkdisk on C: and gives me the option to stop this by pressing any key.
I let it do it a couple of times and it went through the sequence without finding any irregularities although didn't continue with boot sequence; thus meaning I had to switch-off manually, restart and the whole sequence would happen all over again.
If I skip the checkdisk etc the machine boots-up and functions normally.
Can someone please tell me the reason for this and how I can prevent it as it is starting to annoy me.
Be good!
Cheers.

Hopefully this info will sort your issue, assuming is the same problem:

Note the link discusses a D: drive fix. You should use C: instead.

Hope it works for you.
Unsure why this started when you changed memory but to me it suggests that Windows suspects a problem with the C: drive. Does the problem go away if you run a check & fix app on it ? In Explorer right click on C:, select properties, tools tab, Error Checking, Check Now. IIRC Windows uses a bit of a crude method for fixing drives though. Youmay wish to download something better.

Greetings each.
I tried the remedy suggested by "Old_Geezer" first as it seemed easier. I thank you for that, Sir!
Check Disk took all morning and eventually ground to a halt at around lunchtime, which is when I took the screen pic which is available here:
http://www.theatreorgans.com/beerwurly/squidgelet10.jpg .
It now appears I have a disk problem as the ruddy thing refuses to boot-up at all!
I will try a repair job using the installation CD BUT, if all else fails I will re-install Windows XP. I have nothing to lose as there was nothing saved on the PC in the first place.
Watch this space, as they say.
Stay good!
Cheers.
Clearly a gradually getting worse drive problem.

For checking disk issues I tend to recommend Spinrite. But it isn't cheap. If you had nothing you needed to recover maybe one of the free download apps would suit.

Greetings Old Chap.
I removed the drive after my last posting and tried to read it on another machine but the other comp declared it U/S and refused to read it: The big problem is that I had all the drivers in My Documents! I am now faced with the same problem I had when I asked an earlier question:
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Computers/Question1192652.html : I am once again having probs with the VGA graphics card drivers. "Chuck Fickens" came up with a solution on that occasion, but now the link he gave me has no effect whatsoever! :-( Gawd knows why? It's the same machine.
Be good!
Cheers.
