Dry Cat Food And Cleaning Cat's Teeth

This is an interesting though long winded article. So its not good to feed your cat dry biscuits, just raw meat to clean their teeth which seems to make sense although could be quite expensive. Apart from actually cleaning with a toothbrush can anyone else recommend something good to keep cat's teeth clean? Any comments on the article? Food for thought ...

No idea about the people who wrote that article therefore unsure if they speak with authority.

This was recommended by my vet for my cat's teeth. T/D is the important bit to remember as there are a few different ones.

I recommend Royal Canin for cats. I picked up a sample pack from my vet's surgery a while ago. My cat really liked it so I ordered a larger quantity online. The pellets are round and crunchy. I put two or three in with his moist food every time I feed him. His tooth are beautifully clean and his breath sweet.

Hmm, I dispute that. Our cats have TD dental food - we have a real problem with tartar and gum disease if they don't eat scratchy biscuit.

This is my experience with Royal Canin. I doubt if the vet would have given out samples if he had thought the stuff was rubbish,

Our vet used to recommend bones - in particular lamb bones to chew on.

Maybe they dont splinter ... never give a cat or dog chicken or turkey bones ! I learnt the hard way, had a high vet bill ... dog nearly died.

Sorry ladybirder just saw your reply - it was because they did'nt splinter but the cats could enjoy a good old gnaw on them!

Smurfchops , I had abbies and a korat prior to keeping my little yorkies. I always fed my cats a mix of dried and fresh food ie
Royal Cannin for two of the very large bags and then I bought 1 very large bag IAMS (only did this as the RC seemed to make my cats a bit porky in the middle not nice and sleek as orientals are supposed to be !)
I fed them once a day on dried food and once a day on cooked chicken or fish.
They were all healthy and lived good long lives.
