i got a netgear 3300 router
how can i find if its up to date
using w7 chrome

My guess would be to go to the Netgear website and check what's downloadable. Personally I've never felt the need to worry about fixing what isn't broken as far as routers are concerned. I figure if their s/w was upgradable they'd probably check for themselves anyway.

To determine current Firmware version:-

Logon to router via your web browser using usual default address of http://192.168.0.1 , and enter default admin account and password as:
admin
password (unless it has been changed!)

then goto 'Maintenance > Router Status' to view firmware level.

Firmware versions available here:
http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/ (you need to enter model number as DGND3300v2)
