I appologise for repeating this but got no replies in Law.
Bt Broadband
Didn't quite know where to ask this question so chose Law. An elderly pal of mine is now living with an elderly lady friend ( 2 lonely hearts together aww).
He would like to have BT Broadband & pay by direct debit but she is the house owner & pays the BT phone bill, she is bothered about taking on another account her concern quite rightly so is should my pal die in the near future she would be left holding an account she doesn't really want. What are my mates options, can he for instance pay only the broadband account in his name as he is not the householder ?
thanks for your answer Mosaic. Having rung BT it would appear that b/band has to be added to the already supplied 'phone line & there is no way round it.
It might help us to know why your friend specifically wants BT broadband (as opposed to broadband from any other ISP). Is it because of something like their bundled YouView boxes or simply because he's been taken in by all of their advertising?
Unless there's a particular reason to use the BT service, he might just as well get his broadband from another supplier. Since the contract for supply would be with him, and not the lady, it could be cancelled if he were to die.
