Do you mean some people can express themselves eloquently and put forward such a convincing argument it can change others' views? I think so but it's not Chatterbank.
If you post in Chatterbank there is always a chance that the thread will meander off topic.
Do you have any specific examples of posters twisting the OP's opinion? It seems as likely that other posters read between the lines and attempt to represent the intent of the OP without the obfuscation.
Iv'e noticed that regularly, really don't understand why posters don't stick to the point, but there is a bit of a 'gentlemens club' here on chatterbank where posters who have nothing constructive to say just divert to inanities or personal comments between members of the 'club'. I frankly find it quite boring, but whatever makes them happy...........................
Chatterbanks just that - chatter. It often goes off into private chats these days (irritating, but there you are). If anyone posts a controversial question, you're bound to get conflicting responses.
I treat CB like a get together with friends....mostly fun chatter and back and forwards banter...sticking to the point? Now that would be boring surely?
Chatterbank seems to be the school playground and behind the bike sheds all rolled into one with a little sprinkling of typing pool and dollop of mums at school gates ;-)
I think that's why you (TWR) get so het up, you put all your often strange and cryptic posts in chatterbank and then wonder why it's not always taken seriously.
