My partner has just been registered as disabled. We have our own car. I was wondering whether I should ring our car insurance company to advise them of this.
Would this bring our insurance premiums down or increase them?
It may not make any difference to your premiums but you should notify your insurers. If it is one of the notifiable driving problems you should also inform the DVLA. Depending on the age of your partner he may also wish to consider claiming Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.
I am registered as an insulin dependant diabetic. I am also registered as disabled. If DVLA have been informed there should be no difference in your insurance premium. I have to apply for a new license every 3 years (it's free). I have just recieved my recent quote, £105 fully comp for a year. I am the named driver with full no claims bonus, my husband is a named driver. I have found that it is better to be honest because it is so easy for your insurance to become void just when you need it.
