Death Penalty -For or Against

Can I suggest a new category - Death Penalty - For or Against.

That way News would not have the same tired debates on a weekly basis.I have been aparty to it but I was naive and didnt realise how often it is brought up.

Just a suggestion.

Drisgirl the debate about the death penalty will continue as long as wicked people commit wicked crimes. It is a very complex and emotive subject with a whole range of for and against arguments, no one debating it on here is going to influence nor change the laws of the land, but that is where the emotive bit comes in, it is a way of expressing the depth of revulsion at the crime, by calling for the ultimate punishment of the criminal. Unless you feel there is a certain element, posting in the news catagory, some thought provoking stuff that could be construed to be covertly influenciing people's free will.

I think what I really meant to say as a suggestion using this as an example would an Open Debating category might not be a good idea.As I did say Drusilla I have been aparty to discussing this topic anf giving my views and even posting a Q but it seems to have become prevalent latterly.

Only a suggestion not a pop at anyone so calm your jets as they say:)

Thanks for the suggestion - it chiefly appears that most weighty topics end up digressing into a debate on the death penalty, doesn't it?

We may introduce temporary topics later on and will keep this most popular of subjects in mind.

I think it would be a good digressive forum as people could add to it as topics came up.After all most things do end up digressing into a debate and I think most people like a lively discussion.

That would free news up for News - I do wish life were that simple but you did ask for suggestions.
