unusual for me, but we "lost" our beloved dog this week and he was nearly 14 and we got him a 3 months old and its so lonely without him and if I go to bed I wont sleep, nothing worth watching on tv at this time so I need cheering up.

Never had a dog, but I know what it's like to lose a pet. They're one of the family. Think of all the good times you had. I hope you find peace . sorry I am at a loss at what else to say. I hope a restful night will come to you soon.xx
Hi Dee Sa. Sorry to hear about your dog. I don't think those who are not animal lovers can appreciate the pleasure the bring to people and the heartache when they go.

thanks folks for the kind words, the rest of the house is soundo.will make a cup of tea and then go.
Morning Dee.....big hug......

I don't know if this will cheer you up but yesterday I was talking to a (normally intelligent) friend. The subject of the skeleton of Richard III came up (after her hubby told a joke about it) and she said
"What I can't understand is why they buried a king in a car park"

I lost my Lab very suddenly 5 years ago
She had been my only dog and my dearest friend, who asked nothing of me but love.
I found that keeping a retrospective diary with all the things I used to say (and sing) to her helped me a lot.
I still have it along with her framed photo. It keeps her alive for me, even though I have 4 dogs now.
Perhaps doing this might help you? You'll cry when you're doing it, but crying is very therapeutic too.
I know just how you feel. We lost Max nearly a year ago and still miss him, the early morning walks, just having underfoot all the time. At night after he would lie where he could keep an eye on us both and then when Trish went to bed he'd come and lie across my feet so I couldn't move without him. We still miss him but now we've got to the stage were we can remember him and smile.

I never ever thought so many people would understand. I even thought of going to the Spooky church [Spritualist] tonight to get a message, then CS said but dogs cant talk so how can he send a message, dopey me never thought of that !
Its a nice day today so I hopeyou all enjoy.
The loss of a pet is not understood by many people. I had a week off when my cat died, I was so upset.

But you need cheering up - I was speaking to a colleague at work the other day who was trying to get out of a shift. I told the colleague that her contract is until half past twelve on a Sunday. She told me it was not. I said yes, your contract is until half past twelve. No it is not, she replied. My contract has never been half past twelve, it is twelve thirty!

I was stunned, and spent the rest of the day laughing to myself!
Dee Sa, I feel like this every time we lose a cat - the last partings were a long time ago and I'm dreading the next (our boys are about 13). It's real, don't let anyone without a pet tell you otherwise. It's a bereavement, be it human or furry. It's only a few days ag - you need to grieve, don't try not to.... ♥
Of course we understand Dee,you pick a little ball of fluff at maybe 4 weeks old fetch him/her into your life at about 8 weeks with all the rules laid out he/she's not going to sleep on the bed etc and before you know it they've taken over your life.
I have 2 GSD's both are getting old now, one is 12 in June and other 13 in November . I am dreading the day I have to make that heartbreaking decision. They are my best friends , I talk and sing to them, my friends reckon I am a bit nuts but hey ho ! I am going to be distraught when they are no longer here.

Dee sa. I lost my faithful companion nearly 3 years ago my lovely golden lab. He was my life knew my every move . In his last few months he was not able to go walks but he always greeted the postman and fetched the mail and the postman used to take him up and down the paths of a few houses. I have a photo of him on the shelf and I light a candle beside it when I think about him. It does get easier. I still get a lunp in my throat when I read of people like yourself . Just remember that he had a good life and he loved you as you loved him.
Dee , I understand all too well how you are feeling. The dog you lost is all over the house, even though you know they are not there, you keep looking for them. When you go out and return home, it is so empty now. I wish I could cheer you up, time they keep telling me will help. Big hugs from me ((( hug ))) xx
