What is the shortest distance fro point (4,1,-1) to the plane 9i+15j+4k -2 =0. Having lots of trouble trying to work it out, please show all the steps. Please help a.s.a.p. Thanks

Have a look as vascop's post describing his method in this thread:

and then, having found the relevant point on the plane using his method, you can substitute those values for x, y, z into his first equation to give you the answer you seek. If you want a more fully-worked solution I'll go through it in this thread again for you.
I'll look tomorrow but if you use the approach vascop etc and I used on your last two queries you should get there
This is probably more straightforward than the other two queries so have a go and I'll try to help tomorrow in the absence o a bottle of wine
I am going out for the afternoon but have done quick calculation ona scrap of paper using 3d Pythag and I get an answer of 2.51, but I haven't yet worked out the coordinates of that point on the plane.
Have a go using the methods we used on your other threads. If you also get 2.51 the chances are we are both right
