my friend got a speeding ticket from a speed camera and filled out the form putting false details of a made up person from Grenada, West indies, giving a false name and address and mobile number. She has not heard anything more about it. If she was reported for doing this now. eight months later. what punishment is she likely to get.

I think they'd throw the book at her - the ticket is issued to the car registration plate, the authorities know who the registered owner is. How very stupid of her.

It is 'perverting the course of justice' and could be a prison sentence.

Just read Zac's link , so as it is over the 6 month limit for prosecution your friend has got away with it this time. But if it happens again and the police do a bit of research and find the address does not exist she could be in a lot of trouble.

If she has no previous I doubt if she would get an active jail sentence but certainly a heavy fine and possibly a suspended sentence. Jails are full.
If an actual sentence can be avoided they'd probably go for it.

She is driving a new car given to her free by mobility awareness, but the car is registered to her as the fine came to her.

Are we talking about the car that got the fine being a motability car? If so the only people who can drive it are the registered user and the named drivers. An imaginary person from Grenada would not be registered as a user of the car.

If the nominated driver on the speeding ticket was found not to have insurance for that vehicle, should the registered keeper not be done for aiding and abetting uninsured driving unless the car was reported as stolen? Surely a makey-uppy name would not show as insured on the database for said vehicle.
