Has anyone else had an email from halifax asking for your account information. I think its a bit dodgy as banks don't normally do this kind of thing, please be aware, I was sent it and i'm not even a halifax member!!

All emails from banks asking for account info are phoney. Even if it looks official, ignore it!
DO NOT ENTER YOUR DETAILS! This has been on the news before - some computer geeks are trying to obtain bank details so that they can clean out peoples accounts. I get those emails all the time, for banks I am not even with. Banks would NEVER ask you enter details via a web page, it probably says something on the halifax web page, most banks have email warnings on their site telling you about these emails. Just delete the email and ignore it.

As said do not enter any details.

I would be inclined to contact Halifax with details of the E-mail.

In the last few months, i have had emails from Natwest, Barclays, Woolwich, Halifax and Lloyds TSB.

I only bank with one of these financial institutions and they had a warning on the front of their online banking site (the genuine one) advising people not to reply.

NO bank/building society will EVER ask for your details by email or by phone. Never give them to anyone, it will ALWAYS be a scam of some sort!

There is a whole stream of these e-mails doing the rounds. Banks and Building Societies do not contact their customers by e-mail in this manner asking for personal details to be revealed.

Don't ever reply to these mails. Just delete them and notify your bank. They know such mails are being sent but if for any reason your computer's security might be compromised (lack of firewall, virus checker, etc), especially if you use internet banking, it's better to warn your bank that you've had such a message.

i have been getting a couple of emails a day from Halifax and alot of it seems to be gobledegook(sp?). I do have my motgage with Halifax but nothing online so was just ignoring. The past few times though I have just replied with history asking 'Why am i getting all these emails' of course not heard anything back. Glad to hear you are getting them too - definately just going to ignore now.

For anyone getting these emails you can report them, I've found out! What you got to do is forward it onto [email protected] and delete the subject and type in report.
