What precisely is it that you find difficult ?
The report that one baby is still almost clear 12 months after receiving a high level anti virus drug. That's quite possible but there may be other reasons.
The only thing I find strange is that it is not part of a trial which would have involved several hundred babies . The report on one baby, even if accurate, is scientifically meaningless.
The hope that it might lead to a 'cure' . What's new in that ?
They have been saying that repeatedly for over 20 years , as they do for every virus.

Maybe because it is Yahoo who don't really care about their news past the headline, try the BBC: http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/he alth-21 653463
I don't know why you'd not believe it though? They'll get it eventually

The viral DNA is detectable but is not replicating -according to one report.
The case report is about vertical transmission (mother to child) which, if the mother is on anti-virals is very uncommon anyway
so yeah I find this hard to believe that the case has any relevance to us in the UK.
The Editors point that Bill has been throwing money at the issue is irrelevant.
Nixon (US president 1970s) looked at the hundred most useful medical discoveries and showed that virtually none were as a result of going out and looking for the answer. Said to show the importance of blue-sky research.

I may have got this badly wrong and if so please forgive me.
The treatment of HIV in babies involves three antiviral drugs given consecutively........standard treatment in the UK and throughout the world.
However in this case all three antiviral drugs were given "at the same time."
That is what is innovative.
I may be mistaken.
