"But no doubt you will all be telling me that it will ' spoil ' the flow of the game - "

It would - you can't stop the game every time a controversial incident happens. It doesn't even happen in rugby, for example, where contentious decisions also happen all the time, the difference being that generally in the latter those decisions re accepted with better grace. Which they should be.
Oh come on Arky.

He bullies the refs with his mind games and carefully timed outbursts.

The players are an extension of him, and would stop immediately if he told them to.

I bet Cloughies players would never have acted like that.
What Fergie said before the game:

Alex Ferguson hopes to make it third time lucky with referee Cuneyt Cakir.. The Turk has taken charge of two Man United games and the Red Devils have won neither. Fergie said on Monday . . ''You hope ion a game of this nature that you are going to get the best refereeing performance, on the same level as the players on the pitch.
''Mistakes will be made by players and the referee but you hope it will be a top performance. You hope to get nothing less than the best. An occasion like this deserves that.''

Obviously the Turkish referee didn't read that!
SAF is clever at mind games I'll grant you that... but bullies Refs... get a grip.

As for his players being an extension of him is a bit far, you can't control situations when emotions are running high. As I said it was out of order the way they reacted and I'm sure it will be dealt with.
There have been numerous instances of Man U players snarling in referees faces, (think Keane and numerous others with Andy D'Urso), but the fact it persists suggests to me that Sir Awex has never done anything about it, in fact he's probably "Vewy, vewy pwoud" of them
Sounds like Roy Hodgson, Duncer
I don't thwink he's pwoud of his players dwoing that. But of course it never happens with any other club does it.
