Health Screening Firms
11 Answers
I have been treated for high BP,high colestrol and high sugar for about 7 years and is under control through medication. I am not a diabetic. 4 years ago I received a letter from a health screening firm offering screening for stroke/carotid artery, Atrial fibrillation, abdominal aneurysm and peripheral arterial disease for the price of around £150. I decided to have these tests done and apart from one slight problem they all proved ok.
I have now had 3 letters and 2 phone calls from these people offering the same tests as they predict problems with furred up arteries.
Having just lost a brother at 66 years of age from Ischaemic heart disease and coronary artherosclerosis these letters concerned and frightened me. People tell me that they are just trying to scare me into paying out again. I'm not sure GP's agree with these scans. I showed the results of the test 4 years ago to my GP but she read it and said the test isn't conclusive.
Is anyone else getting bombarded by these people?

Yes...the NHS does give.......on the whole a good service.......but should never be above criticism when necessary.
