Chelones means turtles and I cannot find Chelonia in dictionary.

The I from chelonia makes up the I in STIR.

Seasons is the extra word because you have to use the extra word to come up with three of a kind. Three Horae refers to seasons.

The O in G?O? is iffy. So far the only word I can fit there has an O.

I think chelonia must be correct. Collins gives Chelonian as any reptile in the order Chelonia.

Stir must be correct because the R provided the answer to the across clue.

So TOM TRIPE (4) remains.
