This is 'Queen Kay' (aka evsajo) here,
Morning all,
As you have probably noticed from my avatar one of the passions in my life is visiting car boot sales. (I sometimes sell at them too) I have been doing this for over 25 years and during that time I have had many bargains (and some items which were worth quite a bit of money). Years ago it was easy to find old and interesting items, valuable ones too, but with the advent of so many TV programmes like 'Bargain Hunt' and other antique programmes, these sort of things have gradually vanished. Also, over that period, the charge to have a stall has risen greatly: it is now approx £7.00 when it was £2.50. There is a charge to park which is usually 50p per car but I have been to one where it was 50p per person in the car (so I hid Murphy under a blanket).
Car Boot sales are just starting up again in my area after Winter but it’s still a bit too cold for me at the moment !! Gone are the days when I would be up and out by 6 in the morning, driving in the dark to a venue. In a few weeks time, when it is a bit warmer, I will be off to one of the 7 car boots within 10 miles of my home, but nowadays. I don’t look for antiques, I usually have a list from family and friends of things to look out for. I have bought high chairs, stair gates etc. for baby grandchildren, Lego for older ones, fabric for a patchwork mad daughter and loads and loads of books !!
My only problem is I now live in a very small house and no matter how strong-willed I think I am, I always come home with lots of things I didn’t really need and don’t have room for !!!
