Little man has septic tosillitis at the moment.
I have woken today with a really sore throat, red, scratchy and hard to swallow.
Somebody told me that you can still get the infection despite me having my tonsils out aged 6?
Is this correct. I was going to pass my throat off as a coincidence, just a sore throat and possibly get some lozenges.....

No expert but I thought tonsils were to help prevent infection. That you can still get infections of various sorts if you have them out, but the tonsils themselves aren't there to get large, inflamed, or sore any more.
It is incorrect.

If the tonsils have been totally removed ( no remnants ) then it is impossible to have tonsillitis

It is not unknown for an inexperienced surgeon to leave remnant however.

Oh. I am fairly sure the tonsils were fully removed, no remnants.
I am sure that I just have a generalised sore throat. But somebody said "oh you can still get tonsilitis after they have been removed"!
well if you have no tonsils, of course you can't get tonsilitis, any more than you can have ingrowing toenails if you are a double amputee..... You can get throat infections though.
Someon I work with was told they had tonsillitis despite having them removed...sounds crazy though. could just be strep throat. Either way doctor's appointment might be a good idea. Honey and lemon with glycerine is good though.
