Why would the BBC feel the need to find someone better grumpy01?

As a player Davies has been there, seen it and done it all in the 5/6 Nations.
He has a great knowledge and insight of both codes (they use him a lot for League games on the BBC), knows the game and players inside out and summarises in depth.

Got to be better than the whiney Scouse twang of Austin Healy!

Jonathan Davies is one of the best players Wales has ever had. His insight into the game is unsurpassed. Are you sure it's not his strong Welsh accent that bothers you?
PS I am not Welsh.

Have to say I like Andrew Cotter. No Bill McLaren (a one off) but does a great job.
Combined with the passion of Jiffy they make a good commentary team IMHO, as this clip proves.
It's nice to hear commentary teams giving impassioned coverage instead of being somewhat detached.

Welsh accents don't bother me as I very much like to listen to Terry Griffiths on the snooker.Terry is far better than the Ronnie o'Sullivan fan club of Virgo,Thorne and Taylor.
