A question regarding a lost passport

I have recently discovered that i have lost my passport.I do know however that my passport ran out march 05.When filling out the form for a new passport.Am i filling in the section regarding a lost passport (even though it has ran out) or do i just fill in the section for a rewnewal passport (even though i don't have the old passport)?.Thanxs

I don't know the official answer, but I would say you complete it as a lost passport. It may have expired, but if it's a requirement when renewing to send the old one, (a) you obviously can't and (b) what's to stop someone else getting a renewal on your old one. I think just doing it as lost is the best bet.
You will need to fill out form LS01 to report the lost passport (even though the passport has expired there are still identity theft issues) and you will need to apply for the new passport in the same way as a first-time applicant, not as a renewal.

When you apply for a renewal you have to send your old passposrt which obviously you will be unable to do, so you must fill in the form for a lost or stolen passport
