How Do I Use A Grid Reference Number To Find A Location Online?

I have a grid reference number (694599) its in wales but I can't seem to find an online map that will accept this number, any ideas anybody?

have you tried splitting the number into 694 (easting) and 599 (northing) ratter?

You will also need the 2 letter grid reference. Wales uses SH, SJ, SM, SN, SO, SR, SS, ST.

Streetmap.co.uk allows a search using os grid references

eg: SN694599

Maybe there are different grid standards.
Or maybe the leading (or trailing) zeroes have been omitted ?

As others have indicated, the grid reference you provided isn't unique, as it will occur within every grid reference square in the UK. You need to precede it with the appropriate pair of letters. See here:
