How Do I Stop This Tracking

every time log into a site, say for example John Lewis, Marks & Spencer
there is a box which says what items i have viewed before, so it's kind of tracking me, is this google? me, computer. How do i stop it, i don't have any kind of account with these places, but it's happening whenever i view an item. Does this make sense?

so how do i get rid of this irritating constant pop up box that tells me the cookies have been zapped, it's doing it every minute or so, and also no idea why i have been logged out of AB, and am having to log back in each time i go off to do something else, help...
Because AB uses a cookie to keep you logged in and you keep zapping it!
It's an option for the add-on, so go to the add-ons via Firefox options and switch off notifications in self-destructing cookies settings
... and you have to add the sites that you want left alone into the whitelist

i am not sure what a whitelist is, or where to find it, i have got the first one sorted, but not the second, so am still logging in to AB each time...

To add a site to the whitelist click in the Address Of Website box and type in the URL without the http: or the www. part - you can see that for this site I have theanswerbank.co.uk - then click on the Allow button to add it to the list.

i think i sorted it out earlier, so thanks for the help, i clicked on firefox put in whitelist and went from there... let you know if it goes bananas again..
