I dont know much about ballet, but I heard the other day that only women can do the 'point to point' where they stand up on tip toe and flutter across the stage in that lovely way. Apparently men cant do this, why are we not capable of same?

Women balance differently because their centre of gravity is different, and their hips are wider, this is only a guess in terms of the 'point; question - QM will be here shortly with the difinitive response, because if anyone knows ...
Ballerinas move 'on pointe', from the French; 'point to point' is a form of countrified horse-racing. Although I am a balletomane, I have no more to offer than Andy has...namely that it must be a matter of bodily construction. Presumably, it has a lot to do with actual body-weight.
