But does anyone not think how lucky we are to live in a country that supplies us with a house?
I've seen people in Asia that live in caves.

Some people in the UK have to live in caravans, I wonder if caravans have spare bedrooms?

the problem is the welfare budget is massive, but the majority of this money is spent on the elderly, the working poor and the disabled, the unemployed only account for 5%. If companies paid a living wage they wouldnt have to rely on tax credits (hb) and the welfare budget would reduce.
I agree in the past you put up with whatever you got. but back then a lot of disabled people were institutionalised.

The principle is reasonable.
Unfortunately, it'll be the wording and implementation that will cause the problems.
Any potential circumstances leading to increased hardship should be identified and dealt with *before* this scheme is enacted. Thereby removing additional stress from families already experiencing difficulties and heading off any amount of appeals/legal challenges once the scheme is brought in.

I have a very clever plan for Bill & Ben in number ten. All social housing tenents with unused bedrooms should have their spare bedrooms removed ( detached from their houses) & moved to a place where they will be attached to other removed bedrooms & in no time at all there will be houses of joined up rooms for everybody to have a house. If you think that this is a mad scheme remember that in the UK the lunatics are already running the asylum.

More than I thought, Cazzzz.
I know moving people out of their homes is not ideal but reality is there is a greater need.
I know the downsizing fiasco doesn't relate to people already in social housing but new applicants sign the agreement that when their household reduces then they downsize. They know this when they sign on the dotted line.
