Fortunately it doen't happen often, but I usually get this if there's some sort of a problem with AOL's equipment at our local telephone exchange. I found that calling up AOL and shouting about it results in an improvement. The other one is where there's a green light on the router, but an on-screen message saying 'AOL not responding'. I can get this three or four times in a day. By waiting a couple of minutes, all is OK till the next time it happens. No explanation for this.

I was with AOL for years, their customers service is very poor unless you can understand their staff, half the time I felt they were reading the answers from a book or didn't know what I was on about. I am now with BT, I must admit it still crashes but touch wood I haven't had as many problems as I did with AOL. I also use the internet through Mozilla Firefox which helps sometimes. good luck.

No i didn't phone that number, but until yesterday had no internet as the router gave up the ghost. Which is why i haven't replied yet.
All that time pulling the PC to bits and changing settings and it turned out to be a dodgy power lead.
As for the thanks for you getting out of your chair (which you put on my other thread)
when you offered me the number i actually said 'thanks very much' in my reply.
I also thanked everyone for their replies as well in the same post.
So once again thanks for your help.
