Someone born in March 1976 would be 5 in March 1981, meaning that they'd enter Year 1 in September 1981 (after being in 'Reception').
So he started the last year of compulsory education (Year 11) ten years later, in September 1991, meaning that he left school in 1992.
I can't provide the exact start & finish dates for each section of his schooling because, for example, in some parts of the country young people transfer to secondary school in Year 7 (after junior school), whereas in other areas secondary schooling doesn't start until Year 8 or Year 9 (depending upon the type of middle school system in that area).

sorry I've only just seen the last few comments, He was the sole carer for his father for 8 years up to his father's death in may last year. He hasn't 'worked' since he gave up his job to look after his Dad. He hasn't used a computer before and never needed a cv as he had worked from 16 after leaving school. He's been managing to run the house (detached bungalow) with the money from his ingeritance but he now needs to find employment to be able to afford to run the place. I did the CV for him as he had his initial interview at the job centre yesterday and they had asked for one.

so I put down Biology but that meant I had done some Bot when I hadnt
and being UCCA there was no box for saying one had been to Cambridge rather than one wanted to go but there WAS one for a post grad degree in Uni of London and so on and so on.
and so I tried to explain in the interview and they (aged 25 and under) looked at me as tho I were the Mummy himself risen from the Tomb......
