I have just seen a report on the itn news about the people in the remote regions of pakistan,who have to live in a tent in the freezing cold of winter and snow.Is there people who like me, who donated money to this appeal wondering why aid has not reached these people after all this time,its disgraceful.it makes you wonder whether you should donate in the future.

Aid has reached some. The fact is, such a wide area was affected, and such an amount of people left homeless, that the NGOs haven't had enough to go around.

This was compounded by the fact that only a small percentage of the aid anounced by various governments was actually handed over. Seems that good press for a day or two is more important than actually paying up

I used to donate to charities, until I noticed the more was going to administration than to the people that need it. I was amazed to see that �children in need� goes to about seventeen other charities.

I didn't send to this one, much as i'd have liked to, I did donate to the Tsunami appeal, then while at work, I work for a very large company, one of the managers, (somone I wouldn't trust with a penny), approched me and told me how much i'd donated, when I asked him how he found out, he said he was one of the co-ordinaters, quite a shock, I vowed then and there never to donate to a nationwide appeal, because knowing this person, I couldn't be sure the money was going where it should.

Lonnie, that's worrying. As a co-ordinator, he shouldn't be discussing anyone's contribution with anyone, not even that person. Since he is, he's not fit to be involved. Does make you wonder... I can understand why you've decided not to give to a nationwide appeal again. I always feel vaguely uneasy about whether anything I send is reaching its target, I must say.
