I have always had my Home Contents insurance with Prudential and they are really very good when making a claim...no messing.
But have just been looking the insurance with Lloydstsb, with whom I am a customer and find it much cheaper...with the same cover.
Has anyone on AB got this insurance with this bank and have made a claim at anytime...how did it go etc?

I haven't got Lloyds cover, but we change our insurer almost every year, looking for the best deal. Your own bank may have special deals for customers - Nationwide, for instance, has a good rate at the moment for people with a certain current account with them.
I have a bank account and some of my pensions with LloydsTSB. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
rojash, I would have said that until a couple of years ago - they were my main bank for years and although I found them very remote, I couldn't be bothered to change to elsewhere. I then had some problems and needed to visit them about finance matters, and everything's gone swimmingly since then.

I bank with them and never had a problem ..but I hear of people having a terrible time when making a claim on their Home insurance...for this reason,I am reluctant to change insurer but this Lloyds Tsb deal(25% off for banking online and existing customers) seems too good to miss..but would like to know how well a claim is dealt with...as it would be just my luck that no sooner to I change over and I will need to make one!!!
Look around. I halved my buildings and contents insurance by moving from Lloyds to M and S and got BETTER cover and didn't have to do a detailed listing of values. When i phoned LLoyds to ask them what the story was (long time Lloyds insurance customer and I bank with them) they immediately took 30% off the renewal cost but couldn't match m and s.
If I could have been bothered to do a detailed valuation of my home and contents (and kept it up every year) I could have got an even better deal from NFU or John Lewis. The insurance is actually suppled by AXA. I pay 420 a year for everything buildings and contents, large house.
I recently changed to John Lewis Home Insurance (recommended by Which?) and was AMAZED at how little they wanted for very good buildings and contents cover.
Some insurers no longer want you to identify the replacement/rebuilding cost of your contents and home, the cover is "blanket up to " a value. I've been with M&S for the last two years, thankfully never needed to claim but the cover is good and not expensive.

Thank you all for your imput...sorry didn`t get back to you earlier..was on my way to Windermere.
Has anyone out there ever made a claim with Lloydstsb insurance,,,how did it go?
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I haven't personally dealt with them, but I've come across them in business and they have a reputation of being very slow when it comes to claim handling.

I generally switch every year when my renewal is up, but I've stuck with Tesco home insurance for the past couple of years now.
I had a claim a year ago, when my shed got broken into, and they were absolutely brilliant.

I've recommended them to loads of people, and would have no hesitation in doing so again now :-)
