Four March Birthdays

said the brother. Fancy a few days with us and a few days away birding to celebrate? Be a nice break...he said.
So I got up early for the son to collect me at 7am. 6am saw me do the most spectacular demonstration of the splits by a 62year old....ever. Down the icy steps went the right leg while the left leg stayed in the warmth of the kitchen.
I knew there was damage...the funny angle of the leg...the pain and the blood were a dead give away. Dammed if I was going to mess up the arrangements so off I limped to Norfolk....birding...in this weather? I did however give in early...missed the final dinner today and came home to visit A&E.
They were fantastic! Can't believe it. Saw a nurse who thought my leg was broken. Can't be....I said...been walking through the icy woods and partying for two weeks!
You're a woman...she said...we can do anything.
I had xrays...made friends with a chap who had spilled the Yorkshire Pudding fat up his arm...and was told I had to see a consultant!!! On Easter Sunday?? He came in minutes.....nice chap.
Outcome is nothing broken...lots of damage...some a bit odd and instructions for recovery.
Have to spend two days with one leg in the air and do nothing....then slowly start moving and gentle exercise......hmmm...will have to let the posties in the bathroom know that...then gradually do things to improve the leg which is probably going to take six to seven months to heal properly...Glory be! I'm off for a Segway day soon...:-( Should be fine for walking in Ireland in June though....I hope. And one area of the leg is susceptible to infection so I have to go back if it gets hot.
If my family practised birth control in June this wouldn't have happened! :-(

Great that the docs saw you on Easter Sunday in A&E, i suppose thats something to be thankful for! What a flipping nuisance for you to be laid up - and bang goes our shopping trip for the next few months! Never mind you can lay with your feet up and be a proper hot cross bunny! Take care x
by all the saints gness you need a michelin suit of cottonwool surrounded by rubber before you are let out of bed in the morning. what a doolally thing to do. unnecessary actions in a woman your age.
(ps if you need(!) sqad's attention i can lend you silk nightwear if you don't have any of your own).

Hi Psyb...can we get Minty to do something about Tony?
Foot swelling is going down but still blackish. I can properly see the lump above the foot now which is what made them think it was broken. It's a bit big and wonky......pain is reducing with Ibuwotsit and wine....what time can I have a tipple today do you think?
