Very short notice holiday

I can take my family (wife and 2 kids) away for a holiday (5-7 days) leaving this Wednesday. Don't really want a package deal. Anyone know any good sites for checking availability on things like hotels, self-catering accomodation,etc? Fancy France but also keen on UK.

Check www.lastminute.com - they are good for late deals. Or just type in last minute holidays in your search engine which will probably bring up the sites you could check out.
