How can I tell if my goat is pregnant? She is as round as a barrel but isn't gaining weight. Her skin sinks in a little towards her hips. She eats as much as my horses if not more, she still isn't gaining weight. I think she might be pregnant, but I don't know how to tell.

There are two ways.

A vet can either do a transabdominal ultrasound scan (need a farm animal vet with a rectal scanner or portable sector scanner). That is the easiest and quickest way.

Or you can do blood tests, but this are probably going to be more expensive and time consuming.

I was wondering this about one of mine when I got a kick from within!

But if you can get a look at her from behind, if she is pregnant she should look lopsided - the kids go one side and the stomachs the other.

But her symptoms could also indicate a bad dose of worms. It's probably a good idea to get the vet to have a quick look at her.

Sounds like worms to me.
