Velvety Material

We have just purchased a dark brown suite, its not velvet but is very soft material, we are really please with it but it leaves a dark mark when you have been sat on it which doesn't seem to go away no matter which way you smooth the material. Anyway any suggestions.

Velveteen ? My guess is that it is just crushed and catching the light differently to that next to the "mark". If smoothing doesn't help, have you tried a brush ? Since it is new it is probably more noticeably at the moment but may be less so over time.
