My mother-in-law has no phone landline; she only uses a mobile. She has no internt at her house. She doesn't want cable TV installed. I can't work out how to get her onto the net. Any suggestions? We tried a dongle but the signal is very poor so that's not the answer. Without some line being installed into the house I can't think of any other way unless anyone has a suggestion.

If she has a laptop you could buy her a dongle to gain access to the net.
Does she live in a Virgin cable area?
If so, she can have just broadband internet installed with no telephone line.

if you go down the virgin media route if you have a friend or family member with them use the "introduce a friend" offer, they get £50 on their account and you get similar.
sign up for a mobile package with a large data allowance (depending on what she is going to use the internet for) and then share the connection with her laptop or PC so she can use the mobiles internet allowance to access the net.

If she has a mobile with wi-fi, then see if there's an open hotspot near her to use.
Surely the cheapest and best way is for her to get a phone line installed ?

She can have that without the rubbishy TV packages that are offered..if she is happy with Freeview, then why waste money on TV channels she doesn't need ?

Call BT and see what they can offer. Otherwise its a dongle or nothing.
With a 3G capability mobile phone, she can connect it to her computer and use the mobile phone network to browse the internet. She would be best to come to a arrangement with the network provider to try keep data costs as low as possible. See here...
