the dvd on my samsung laptop 'disappears' randomly. Can't see what causes it. Usually (but not always) comes back after a reboot. When its there (ie listed on the device manager) it works so presume not a hardware problem. Any ideas of a solution? (preferably not involving messing with registry) Thanks

It could be the DVD reader head needs cleaning ; that would usually mean paying a professional to do it unless you want to try it yourself - check out YouTube for a how to video. If your laptop is still under warranty it should be covered.
