I'm using a veritape which should pick up the TONE of a customer
Keypad when inputting a credit card number. If the customer phone keypad is set to silent I guess it won't detect DTMF right ? Dial tone multi frequency!

That can't be right. That would mean that if someone set their keypad to silent, they'd be unable to dial. Generally, setting it to silent, just means that the DTMF isn't echoed through the phone's sounder, but it's still transmitted down the wire.
