Price Of A Picture C.d

I have been asked to take some pics at a school reunion this week and will probably spend about 4 hours at the event during which time I would expect to take 200+ pics.I have beenaske if I could supply people with a disc with the pics on as a memento of the evening.I have never sold any discs before so have no idea what sort of price I should be asking.I will have to cover the cost of the disc and postage so any body able to suggest a reasonable charge.

Will you be editing the pics first because if so that's quite time consuming and you probably won't want all of them anyway? If you do nothing more than dump them all on a cd then I suggest about £10, if you do more then you'd have to charge for your time.

Thanks for your quick reply Sharingan, i dont plan to do any editing apart fro any red eye removal and maybe a bit of cropping where needed.£10 seems a bit much but it would be nice to get somewhere near it.

I suppose you have to ask yourself if you went to a reunion, how much would you want to pay for the photos? If it's an annual thing, for instance, not so much; if it's once in 10 years, maybe a lot more.

Also, is the organiser commissioning you directly, or do you have to collar people yourself and try to persuade them to buy?

When my daughter left primary school they did a leaving concert, someone came and videoed it and we all paid £9 for a copy, so a tenner sounds about right to me.

Well I was working on £1 for the CD, £1 for postage and packing and then the rest for your time and bothering to do it. I can't imagine anyone would do it for a lot less:)

jno, this is the first reunion for people who left the school 30 years ago and to my knowledge is planned as a one off.The organiser has aske me if I could provide disc for anyone who askd on the night.

I'd pay a tenner for photos after 30 years. But do factor in not only the costs of the disc and postage, but a bit for your time - and that may include salesmanship. Could you ask the organiser for some help with this? It seems a shame if you're going to put time, equipment and effort into it with no promise of any return at all.

I think a tenner is a bit steep for pics of a few old school mates. Won't people be taking their own cameras and their own pics? I know I would.

Thanks Cheeky Chops, no doubt people will be taking their own cameras or using phones.Think the idea is to try and get as many pictures together as possible.Think I might just outline the cost of the discs to myself and then tell them if they wanta copy to just pay me what they they are worth, a gamble I know.

is it your reunion too?

if not, i would make a charge for your time and travel etc in doing this

why should you end up out of pocket etc?
its also going to interrupt your time at the reunion so its not fair they'd expect you to do it for free.

as said people will take their own pics, but if you think £10 is too much id think maybe somewhere around £7-8 for the disc.
assume £1 for disc and £1 p&p and the rest for the photos.

the money you make really should come mainly from the organiser though - because what if you go to all that effort and only a few people want the pics?
