That's big of them. Is this "debate" just another continuation of the bile spewing frenzy we have seen in recent days? Surely the anti Thatcherites have had ample opportunity to rubbish her.

Who cares?
Are you absolutely sure that you have spelled your name right titehead ?
/the bile spewing frenzy we have seen in recent days? /

the what? you're getting a bit carried away aren't you?

Of course, a little bit of 'bile' might have been stimulated by the 'adulation idolising frenzy' of the past 9 days

I'm sure Lady Thatcher, more than anyone, would have been deeply disturbed if her death hadn't prompted animosity from some people

As it is a 'debate' I expect it will provide an opportunity for some members of the SP to say nice things about her too

Are there any Conservatives in the SP?
Did she say why she wanted to be cremated ?
I cannot imagine the debate lasting that long in Scotland.

The "bile spewing frenzy" has, it seems to me, be in direct response to the fawning adulation expressed by some sections of the media - and in a direct response to what amounted to a state funeral, used by some within the establishment or a vindication of the legacy of Thatcherism - as an unopposed days long party political broadcast.
Apparently it was postponed 'cos the main speaker was unable to attend.

Frankie Boyle sent his apologies.
Har Har sir.p
She has now been laid to rest (cremated) so that should be the end of it all.
Now we have seen the ugly (leftist) side of Britain.
It's all over. Mrs. Thatcher is dead. She's laid to rest and the Country goes on, Doing the best it can. Love and Peace to you all. x

I don't think there are many Tories in the SP. Surely everyone in Scotland hates her so I'm not expecting many tributes. Hence my surprise at the anti Thatcher love in the Scots would Ideally have liked to hold today.
The debate is on the subject 'There is such a thing as society' Seems like an interesting and timely discussion. The Tories, largely thanks to Thatcher, may have been obliterated in Scotkand and she herself may be physically dead now as well, but that seems a poor excuse to skirt an issue which could well be aired south of the border also
The Scottish Parliament will debate any subject it chooses, without reference to Westminster, or any other tribal hut.
Lets hope they debate themselves out of the UK, and the sooner the better.

........and the EU YMB!
god forbid that the SP decide when /what they debate without consulting anyone.. as an aside, there are more panda's in scotland than tory mp's. but no one is obliged to watch the debate. jeremy kyle may be on tv at the same time :)
